Rafn-Larsen Automobiler - est. 1961
The company's history spans over 60 years.
Rafn-Larsen Automobiler was established in 1961.
The property on Energivej, which now houses the company, was built in 1972. The car dealership was the first of its kind on Energivej / Tempovej and laid the foundation for the "Ballerup Bilby" *). The company's first car brands were Simca, Sunbeam, and Chrysler. Simca was later merged with Talbot, which later became Peugeot.
Between 1982 and 1990, the company also sold Nissan, Fiat, Seat, Zastava, Daihatsu, Chrysler, and Mitsubishi.
Rafn-Larsen Automobiler was originally established by Preben Rafn-Larsen in 1961. In 1988, he sold the company to Mogens Klingsholm.
After a few years of running a car dealership in France, Kenneth Rafn-Larsen (son of Preben Rafn-Larsen) returned to Denmark in 1990 and ran the company Rafco A/S on Amager near the airport for a decade from 1990-2000. The company was a car rental company (Thrifty Rent-a-car), a car dealership (Seat), and an import and rental business for the French motorhomes Pilote.
In 2000, Kenneth Rafn-Larsen bought back Automobiler in Ballerup from Mogens Klingsholm, and the company was back in the family's hands.
Since 2010, Rafn-Larsen Automobiler has been an authorized dealer of Mazda. The choice was between a European or a Japanese brand, but the choice was not difficult as quality weighed more than volume. Since then, the business has been a full-service Mazda business with both new and used car sales as well as mechanical workshops and body shops.
In 2015, the Isuzu dealership was acquired. The line was set with Japanese quality cars, and now the strong pick-up cars were expanded to both businesses and private customers.
In 2020, Subaru was added, and the Japanese Car House became a reality with three Japanese quality car brands under one roof. Synergy and a clear Japanese line run through the entire company.
The company is a member of the Danish Automotive Industry Association. Kenneth Rafn-Larsen was previously a board member of the Danish Automotive Industry Association for many years. The organization is the complete trade organization for car dealers and auto painters in Denmark.
The property at Energivej 16 was heavily renovated, furnished, and given a completely new and up-to-date exhibition at the end of 2009. Investments have been made to ensure that the facilities remain optimized and can meet the modern customer's expectations at all times.
